Well, I don't think we've ever had such a hard time getting through a race as we had at Martinsville this week. For once it wasn't driver error that caused a myriad of restarts, but a program glitch. Here's how it all went down (the drain):
Krusty took the pole in the first round of attempts Monday evening, then everyone lined up and we were green. Things were running along smoothly until the 1st yellow, when everyone went to pit. One of the drivers was turned into a "ghost" by the program and not allowed into the pit box. While this was goin on, everyone else was black flagged for passing the "ghosted" driver.
Restart!
Same thing.
Restart again!
Same thing....again!
So we tried it without yellow flags and it appeared that things would work, but it was too late to run the race so we postponed it until Wednesday night.
Sparky got the pole this time and everyone lined up for the race. Things were lookin good on the track.
Until Krusty spun in the back straight on lap 6, Spark came around turn 2 to find Krusty sideways in the middle of the track.
KA-WHAP! Spark was toast.
Restart!
Again everything appeard to be fine on the track...
Until the 1st round of pits when Pert was "ghosted", Spark wasn't allowed to change tires, Krusty rear-ended Spark (who was stopped on the inside wall in the front stretch tryin to figger out how to drive his car another 70 laps with no tires), damaging his engine. Well, instead of restarting or moving the race to a similar track (New Hampshire) our heroes decided to let Rod and Hog duke it out while they drank beers in the pits.
Results:
1st - Rod
2nd - Hog
3rd - Krusty
4th - Sparky
5th - Pert
